Dear Women´s Media Pool Participants:

As the day approaches when we will start the next step in this 10 year trip from Beijing and back and forth, let me give you some idea about how we are envisioning the practical operation of the WMP in terms of the FLOW of INFORMATION.

Although this will be explained and shown in graphic form at the 26th of February meeting in N.Y. it might be good for all of us to understand how the flow will work so that we are ready for it.

Our instruments for this FLOW of information are basically three:

1. ) a WMP web page which will be ready by Tuesday February 22 at www.womensmediapool.org

2. ) the electronic list we have created and used to organize the WMP at http://www.dgroups.org/groups/poolB10

3. ) the special email for the WMP which is femmediapool@yahoo.com

The web page will be a virtual pool for all of our audiences. The main page will have circles with each participating org or network, each with a link to a page for each participating organization or network, which tells what you are doing in Beijing plus 10 and a link to your web page. The news section will contain ONLY the titles of the news, reports or webcast topics developed daily, each with a link to the web page (our orgs web pages) where the full report can be read, heard or seen. (It will change every day.)

                                        - That way, the info in the pool´s page does not substitute your pages, but rather supports it by leading the audience to them on a
  
                                         daily  basis.

                                        - That is why we need for all of us to disseminate the existence of the WMP web page by placing the link in your web pages!

                                                        FIRE staff in Costa Rica will be updating it every day with what we feed them in terms of tittles and links.

The electronic list we have been using will become an internal virtual pool for us participating orgs or networks. It will have (concentrate) the full news, reports, etc. that we produce, so that our organizations can see there what has been written or broadcast, and choose the ones you want for distribution through your electronic lists or web pages.

                                         - If it is not you, but someone back home who will be selecting the information, then you need to let me know so that we can put                                             their emails in the list for them to have access.

- It means that when you produce a news, report or whatever, you will easily and quickly post it there for all pool members to be able to use it for distribution in whichever way you want.

- The way to upload them is very easy. I will show you when we meet, or you can try it beforehand by going to http://www.dgroups.org/groups/poolB10, then clicking on “resources” then click “new document” and then place the info following the simple steps.

- That way, the sharing of info among us is totally automatized, but we will not receive millions of attachments from which to choose.

The tittles of your reports, news or whatever, for the pool´s web page you will send to femmediapool@yahoo.com every day. The FIRE staff in Costa Rica will place them in the “tittles section” of the pool´s web every day so that people can go there, see tittles and go to our web pages to read what they want.

We will take to N.Y a simple business card to give to each of you with the instructions and addresses to do this quickly and easily. Do not stress, it is about having fun while we work together and share what we do without filling our emails!
