The Latin American and Caribbean women and feminist movements do not accept the attempt from the US Government to undermine the ratification and full implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, by incorporating amendments that are against the broad international consensus, with the intention to deprive women of existing rights and the opportunity to achieve new rights.

The rights of women from all over the world cannot be subordinated by the arrogance of one country that uses is wealth –accumulated from an international unjust and unequal order -, as means to impose and manipulate other states, threatening the existence of the UN itself. It is clear in these deliberations that the US government continues its efforts to weaken and disrespect the international human rights system.

The Latin American and Caribbean women and feminist’s movements demand:

- That the US respects the sovereignty of all states and do not use

international development cooperation as a means to pressure and manipulate our countries.

- That Latin American and Caribbean governments respect the regional agreements enshrined in the Lima and Mexico Consensus, where they reaffirm the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action.

- That UN member states reaffirm the full Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action and the Outcome of the five years review.

- That governments and multilateral institutions commit to allocate the necessary resources to ensure the full implementation of the BPFA.

- That UN member states reaffirm their unequivocal commitment to women’s human rights.
